This tour involves immersion in rural Kenyan life. Departing from the village of Ukunda, Diani locality, the first stop is the Ukunda market, where you can see many people buying and selling different items to improve their daily lives. The second stop is at a public elementary school, if the schools are open (it's a good idea to bring small gifts such as books, pens or sweets). After school, the tour continues into a community of rustic village houses. You'll visit a local Mganga (the Swahili name for a traditional doctor) who, although they are not witch doctors, offer health care and herbal treatments. You'll also have the opportunity to visit a local kitchen and share in the preparation of dishes such as Ukali coconut rice, etc., with local women. You can then taste and join in the GIRIAMA dance for a lively evening of coconut juice or coconut wine. Afterwards, you'll be taken to the Ne Again orphanage and then continue on your way, stopping to buy carved wooden souvenirs made on site or along the way before returning to your hotel.
