Djibouti ville- Dikhil- Lac Abbé

Steps: Lac Abbe


In the morning, we drive to Lac Abbé. The route passes through the Grand Bara and Petit Barra deserts. You'll spend the night at the Lac Abbé camp to admire the magnificent landscape at sunset. The camp is made up of very basic, traditional Afar huts (BLD).

Lac Abbé - Volcano - Lac Assal - Goubet-Tadjourah

Steps: Lac Assal

You have to get up early to see the sunrise. Lake Abbé offers a magnificent landscape, full of chimneys. On a walking tour of the lake, you'll also see nomadic peoples, flamingos and hot springs. The geology of this region is very interesting. We make our way to Lake Assal, the lowest point in Africa. Along the way, we also visit the Adaleh Canyon panorama and the Goubet panorama.

In Lake Assal, the large salt field gives you the impression of walking in a faraway land. The water has vivid colors that change from time to time due to the reflection of the sun. The excursion continues to the Goubet tourist camp for the night (BLD).

Tadjourah - White Sands - Djibouti city

Steps: Tadjourah

Djibouti's oldest town is famous for its whitewashed buildings. After exploring Tadjourah, we make our way to Plage des Sables Blancs. Here you can cool off while enjoying the beautiful white sandy beaches and drinks. We continue to Djibouti City for an overnight stay before departing for Somaliland the following morning (BLD).

Day 5

Djibouti City - Somaliland border - Borama

Morning drive to Lawya'ado (border between Djibouti and Somaliland). The long journey continues through the semi-desert regions of western Somaliland before arriving in Borama. Borama is the country's third-largest city, famous for its Amoud University. Overnight at Rays Hotel or similar. (BLD).

Day 6

Borama - Dhagah Khoure- Arabsio - Gabiley - Hargeisa

You'll visit Borama and its market. On our way to Hargeisa, we'll stop at the ancient Dhagax Khoure rock painting site. It contains animal and human figures spread across various panels in a striking landscape. We also pass through the small towns of Arabsiyo and Gebiley. These towns are famous for their agriculture and traditional Somali culture. On arrival in the capital Hargeisa, you will be taken to your hotel (BLD).

Day 7

Visit Hargeisa

In the early morning, you'll visit the livestock market. Cattle are the backbone of Somaliland's economy. You'll explore the city of Hargeisa, visiting the civil war memorial and the central market. After a break, you'll be free to wander around downtown Hargeisa to soak up the people and the bustle of the city (BLD).

Day 8

Hargeisa - Laasgeel - Berbera

We travel to Laas Geel, one of Africa's most important rock art sites. The vivid colors and well-preserved paintings are estimated to be around ten thousand years old. The drive continues to Berbera, where you will be taken to your beach hotel. Here you can relax on the beach and take a swim at sunset. The beach hotel rents out flippers, masks and snorkels, diving equipment and it's possible to take a boat trip (BLD).

Day 9

Berbera - Sheikh - Hargeisa

After breakfast, you'll visit the historic town of Berbera. The old part of town, with its many Ottoman and British buildings, is of particular historical interest. We leave Berbera behind and head for the small mountain town of Sheikh. Crossing the Sheikh mountains is a pleasant experience, with picturesque views and pleasant temperatures. At the end of the day, we return to Hargeisa (BLD).
