Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe airport

On arrival at Entebbe airport, you will be met by our guide and transferred to your booked hotel in Entebbe.

Spend the rest of the day exploring the city of Entebbe. Optional activities and transfers can be booked on request.

Day 2: Transfer by plane to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

Steps: Forêt Impénétrable De Bwindi

This morning's flight by light aircraft to the Kihihi airstrip takes just over an hour. Transfer through local villages and along mountain roads to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, a World Heritage Site (+- 90 minutes drive). Considered Uganda's most diverse forest, Bwindi is one of East Africa's richest ecosystems and home to over 120 mammals, 345 bird species, 200 butterfly species and 160 tree species. The park is home to around half the world's population of the endangered mountain gorilla, making it an extremely valuable conservation site.

Day 3: Gorilla trekking - Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

Coming face to face with mountain gorillas is a rare and exhilarating experience that's hard to put into words. Experienced guides and trackers will accompany your group on an early morning trek through dense rainforest on steep mountain slopes.

Please note that gorilla trekking can be exhausting, with walks ranging from 45 minutes to eight hours, at high altitudes and in often hot conditions. We recommend hiring a local porter to help you on your trek. Although mountain gorillas are wild animals and sightings are not guaranteed, the success rate is over 95%. Once you've located your gorilla family, spend an hour quietly observing them. Time flies; make sure you get the most out of this experience, and not just through the lens of your camera . Return toBuhoma Lodge for a complimentary massage after your hike, or explore the surrounding community of Bwindi.

Day 4: Optional second gorilla trek and transfer to Ishasha area, Queen Elizabeth National Park

Depart Bwindi Impenetrable National Park this morning and drive to Ishasha, in the southern part of Queen Elizabeth National Park (2-3 hours drive), with a brief stop en route at a community project near the village of Ishasha.Weather permitting, we'll take a late afternoon game drive in the Ishasha area, in search of huge herds of buffalo, elephant, Uganda kob and, of course, the famous tree-climbing lion typically found in the region.

Day 5: Full-day safari in the Ishasha area

Steps: Queen Elizabeth National Park

Early this morning, as the African sun rises over the wilderness, you'll venture out in your customized safari vehicle for a game drive in search of big cats, elephants, buffalo and many species of antelope. You'll spend the rest of the morning in search of the rich wildlife, including warthog, waterbuck, bushbuck, leopard, Ugandan kob, elephants, countless bird species and even the rare giant forest hog. The Ishasha sector of the park is famous for its tree-climbing lions, sometimes found lying in the branches of native fig trees. You'll also have a safari and Sundowner in the late afternoon, as the sun sets over the savannahs.

Sundowner drinks and snacks are a fantastic way to end the day! At the end of your afternoon safari, you'll be taken to a predetermined spot inside the national park, where you'll find a small buffet with freshly prepared snacks and iced drinks. Comfortable chairs are laid out, overlooking the magnificent plains of the African savannah. Sundowners take place in a place where you can both admire the magnificent African sunset and enjoy a quiet spot to observe the flora and fauna. Sundowners last as long as you like, so there's no pressure to get back to camp before you've seen the sun set completely.

Day 6: Safari and relaxation - Queen Elizabeth National Park

Steps: Queen Elizabeth National Park

Today, you'll go on an early morning safari in search of rare tree-climbing lions and a variety of wildlife in the Ishasha sector before heading north towards the wildlife-rich "Mweya" sector of the park, where visitors will find large numbers of Euphorbia, or "candelabra" tree, unique and strange to Uganda. The many crater lakes and nearby mountain ranges provide a magnificent backdrop for your trip. You'll then head to your lodge to check in, have lunch and spend the rest of the day relaxing at the lodge.

Day 7: Sunrise safari and boat cruise along the Kazinga Canal

Steps: Queen Elizabeth National Park

Today you'll enjoy an early morning game drive on the Kasenyi plains, then return to your lodge for lunch and to prepare for the afternoon's adventure. In the afternoon, you'll take a boat cruise along the Kazinga Canal, a 32-kilometer-long natural channel that connects Lake Edward and Lake George. Kazinga's shores are dotted with herds of lazy buffalo, groups of carefree wallowing hippos and countless species of birds. Pass by local fishing villages and soak up the tranquility of this beautiful African day. (The cruise normally departs at 2 pm.

You may encounter herds of elephant, buffalo and antelope, families of warthogs, large groups of hippos and crocodiles lounging on the shore. Kazinga's shores are a haven for many birds, including many migratory species heading south to warmer climates. The cruise also offers spectacular views of the magnificent Mweya Peninsula and life in the local fishing villages along the shores.

Day 8: Safari and transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

Steps: Queen Elizabeth National Park, Kibale Forest National Park

Another early-morning safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park, then a 3 to 4-hour drive will take you to the Kibale Forest, which features an interesting mix of lowland rainforest, montane forest and mixed deciduous rainforest. In addition to the forest, you'll also notice areas of grassland and swamp. The forest is rich in wildlife and is best known for its primate population. These include the red-tailed monkey, the diademed monkey, the olive baboon, the chimpanzee and the black-and-white colobus. Birdlife is also abundant, with almost 300 species recorded. The forest is also home to 144 species of butterfly and a varied population of moths and other insects

Day 9: Chimpanzee trekking in the Bigodi community

Steps: Kibale Forest National Park

Chimpanzee trekking in the Kibale forest usually takes place in the morning. The forest is full of noise! Chimpanzees can be very active, moving quickly through the forest canopy... or, if you're lucky, you may find them resting or eating close to the forest floor. It's an exhilarating walk, in a magnificent landscape. As with gorilla tracking, sightings are not guaranteed, even though chimpanzees are used to humans. This afternoon, visit the Bigodi swamp and the community village.

Day 10: Transfer to Entebbe airport

Steps: Entebbe, Kasese

Depart after an early breakfast for the scenic drive to Kasese airstrip for your connecting flight to Entebbe, arriving late afternoon. (If you are leaving Entebbe this evening, do not book a flight before 7.00 pm).
