5 Days Marangu Route
The Marangu route, also known as the Coca-Cola route, is more popular because it can be covered in a few days and has permanent huts in the camps. Due to its gradual gradient and direct route, it is considered one of the easiest routes to the summit. As you take on the challenge of climbing Kilimanjaro, our expert guides will ensure that everything goes smoothly from start to finish.
As the trip only lasts 5 days, acclimatization can be a little more difficult as some routes are more direct than others. The night ascent from Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak is steep and takes in Gilman's Point. As this is a shorter route, with a steeper ascent and less time for acclimatization, the success rate at the summit is lower.

Detail of the stay : 5 Days Marangu Route - 5 days
From Marangu Gate to Mandara Huts
Steps: Kilimandjaro
Altitude: 1830m to 2740m
After breakfast, we leave Moshi/Arusha for the Marangu gate. We'll wait patiently for our permits to be issued, watching the hustle and bustle of operations as many crews prepare for the journey ahead. While your guide talks you through the local flora and fauna, you'll be able to admire the beautiful rainforest scenery and windy trails. The trail can be muddy and slippery at these low altitudes. Gaiters and trekking poles are strongly recommended.
De Mandara Huts à Horombo Huts
Steps: Kilimandjaro
Altitude: 2740m to 3690m
We emerge from the rainforest after a restorative night's sleep and a hearty breakfast. We continue on an ascending trail across the moor, in search of giant lobelia and ragwort. We continue to climb through open moorland, where small shrubs predominate. Stop midway for lunch and to admire the breathtaking views from Mawenzi. Late afternoon arrival at Horombo Huts, located below the spectacular Kibo summit viewpoint. Temperatures begin to drop.
From Horombo to Kibo huts
Steps: Kilimandjaro
Altitude: 3690m to 4695m
After breakfast, we continue our ascent across moorland that fades into a lunar landscape as you enter the saddle that connects Mawenzi and Kibo. You can check out the ascent to the summit of Kibo that you'll begin in a few hours here while we stop for lunch, and later when you cross this surprisingly large saddle.
Kibo Huts to Summit
Steps: Kilimandjaro
Altitude: 4695m to 5895m
The anticipation builds as morning approaches, with an early start between midnight and midnight. This is the most mentally and physically demanding part of the trek.
We continue our winding ascent, trying to stay warm and concentrating on the incredible sense of achievement that awaits us. We climb through heavy scree and possibly snow to Gillman's Point on the rim of the crater, following a jagged movement. During your brief stay here, you'll be rewarded with a spectacular sunrise. Faster hikers may be able to see the sunrise from the summit. You're likely to encounter snow on the hour-long climb to Uhuru Peak.
Congratulations, you've reached Uhuru Peak, the highest point on Kilimanjaro and the entire African continent!
We take a few moments to appreciate this incredible achievement after the photos, celebrations and perhaps a few tears of joy. We begin our steep descent to Camp Mweka, stopping for lunch and a brief rest in Barafu. We strongly recommend wearing gaiters and trekking poles due to the loose gravel and volcanic ash on the terrain. Enjoy a well-deserved rest on your last evening on the mountain. Overnight at Mweka Camp.
From Horombo Huts to Marangu Gate
Steps: Kilimandjaro
Altitude: 3690m to 1830m
It's time to say goodbye after breakfast and a heartfelt ceremony of thanks and team bonding. We continue our descent, stopping for lunch at Mandara Huts. Don't forget to tip your guides, cooks and porters, as you'll be leaving them behind. Return to the Marangu park gate to collect your summit certificates. The terrain is wet, muddy and steep due to the hot weather, and we strongly recommend that you wear gaiters and trekking poles. A vehicle will meet you at the gate and take you back to your hotel in Moshi/Arusha.
