Steps: Mcleod Ganj - Dharamsala

Dharamshala is a magnificent region at the foot of the Himalayas. This makes it a perfect destination for adrenaline-seeking sportsmen and women who like to climb mountains, but also for beginners looking for easy trekking. For those who don't like hiking, don't worry, Dharamshala will also have something to surprise you. On the religious side, Dharamshala is a region with a strong Buddhist influence. This is explained by the Dalai Lama's exile here many years ago. Visit the Dalai Lama temple and monastery, the Norbulinka Institute and its Japanese gardens, as well as Hindu temples such as Bajinath, Chamunda Devi... During your visit to the temples, you'll pass through the tea plantations of Dharamshala, breathtaking scenery set against the backdrop of the Himalayan range.

Day 5: Visit Amritsar

Steps: Amritsar

Amritsar is proud to be home to the Golden Temple, a spiritual center for the world's Sikh population. It is the epicenter of Sikhism, a recent Indian religion. The city seems to be woven around the Temple. Indeed, Amritsar takes its name from "Amrit Sarovar", which means "the sacred pool of nectar" or the pool around the temple. Today you'll visit the city's temples, including the Golden Temple, where you'll witness a unique sunset over the Temple!

Day 6: Amritsar to Chandigarh ( 4 OR 5H drive)

Day 7: Chandigarh to Shimla (3 OR 4 H drive)

Steps: Shimla

Chandigarh takes its name from the deity Chandi (a Hindu temple in the neighboring district) and from Garh, the "fort". The city was designed by the famous French architect Le Corbusier, with flat roofs, green streets and concrete houses... It's a modern city on a human scale for India. The city has no road communications, making it a pedestrian paradise. It's not a historic city, but you won't be bored. Enjoy the parks, a stroll through the Rose Garden or the Perfume Garden, a walk by Lake Sukhna. Visit the Parliament, the Secretariat and the Court of Justice. Come and see the city's emblematic "Open Hand" sculpture, symbolizing peace and brotherhood. In the afternoon, drive to Shimla.

Steps: Shimla

Located at an altitude of around 2,200 m, Shimla is the capital of the state of Himachal Pradesh. With its Victorian architecture, it is a popular resort for Indians during the summer months. Visit the Mall, a long modern pedestrian street lined with stores of all kinds, restaurants and cafés. The Théâtre de la Gaieté, designed by Henry Irwin in 1887 in Victorian Gothic style. The half-timbered town hall, built in 1908. The Jakhou temple with its 33-metre-high Hanuman statue and the Kali Bari temple. Christ Church, built in 1857 to plans by French colonel Boileau. The Vice-Regal Lodge, also known as the Rashtrapati Niwas, former summer residence of the British Viceroy of India. And so many other beautiful places to see that will make your visit to Shimla memorable.
