Day 1: Tarangire National Park
Steps: Tarangire National Park
our safari adventure begins today! A driver will pick you up from your hotel in Zanzibar and take you to the airport for your flight to Arusha. You'll enjoy a scenic one-hour flight on a small plane.
Upon arrival at Arusha Airport, your guide will meet you and drive you two hours to Tarangire National Park, renowned for its large elephant herds and striking ancient baobab trees.
In an open-roof vehicle, you'll explore seasonal swamps, savanna, and the Tarangire River, where you can spot a variety of wildlife, including birds, giraffes, impalas, zebras, lions, leopards, elands, warthogs, and elephants. After a day of adventure, you'll head to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2: Serengeti National Park
Steps: Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, you'll journey through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, crossing the Malanja Depression on your way to the Serengeti, one of the world's most renowned wildlife conservation regions. You'll make a quick stop at the Naabi Hill Gate, where you can take a short walk around the Naabi Hill Kopjes-large granite boulders-while your guide handles the necessary paperwork.
Following a picnic lunch at the gate, you'll spend the afternoon on game drives in the expansive Serengeti National Park, whose name comes from the ancient Masai word "Siringet," meaning "endless plains." And indeed, the plains seem to stretch on forever.
Day 3: Serengeti -Ngorongoro Crater
Steps: Serengeti National Park
Start your day with early morning game drives in the Serengeti, where you can visit the hippo pools and the Seronera Visitor Center if you'd like. After a hearty breakfast at the bush camp, you'll continue your game drives, retracing your route back to Naabi Hill Gate until early afternoon.
Then, you'll cross back into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where you'll arrive at your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay
Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater
Steps: Ngorongoro Crater
After an early breakfast, you'll descend over 600 meters into the Ngorongoro Crater to explore its rich wildlife. This unique ecosystem, sustained by a year-round water supply, is home to diverse animals, including wildebeest, zebras, buffalo, elands, warthogs, hippos, and large African elephants.
The crater is also known for its impressive predator population, featuring lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, and the elusive leopard, which can be challenging to spot. You'll visit Lake Magadi, a large shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner, where you can often see vibrant flamingos and various water birds.
In the late afternoon, you'll transfer to Arusha for dinner and an overnight stay, or you can choose a drop-off at the airport for your flight back to Zanzibar.
