Tarangire National Park

Departure by 4X4 vehicle with your driver-guide: he will accompany you throughout your tour - Departure from Arusha and drive to Tarangire. At first the road leads west, gradually turning south. Passing south of the Monduli mountains and east of Lake Manyara, in the eastern branch of the Great Rift Valley. Approx. 3-hour journey, depending on exact departure and arrival points (route details and journey times are subject to road conditions) -Discovery of Tarangire National Park. A former hunting ground declared a National Park in 1970, Tarangire is the country's sixth largest park. It takes its name from the Tarangire River, which flows through the park from south to north. Covering an area of 2,600 km2, it boasts an astonishing diversity of vegetation (sausage trees, tortellis acacias, etc.), but is best known for the immense baobabs that dot its rocky slopes. The park also boasts a highly diverse fauna. Numerous birds have been recorded here, including blacksmith lapwings, African hoopoes, kingfishers, ostriches, Kori bustards, snakes, marabouts and vultures. The park is best known for its concentration of one of the largest elephant populations in Africa.

Leaving the fertile highland region with its coffee and tea plantations, the road passes into the open plains of the Serengeti, where Masai pastoralists co-exist with African wildlife. Journey time approx. 3-5 hours depending on exact start and finish points (route details and journey times are subject to road conditions).

- Discovery of Serengeti National Park. Created in 1951, Serengeti (from Siringet, "> in the Masai language) is one of Africa's largest parks. Covering an area of 14,800 Km2, it adjoins Ngorongoro to the east and the Masai Mara (Kenya) to the north. It's a magical place, as much for the beauty and diversity of its landscapes (plains, acacia savannahs, hills, large wooded areas) as for the variety of its animals. Serengeti National Park is home to a huge variety of wildlife in all seasons: gazelles, antelopes, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, jackals, warthogs, monkeys... they're all here.

Ngorongoro Conservation Area (including Crater)

- Discover the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Initially incorporated into the Serengeti National Park, the area is not a National Park. It was founded in 1959, following a conflict between the national parks and the Maasai, as a nature reserve to protect exceptional wildlife, but also as a home and protection area for the Maasai. The Ngorongoro Conservation Area covers some 8,288 km2, of which 890 km2 is occupied by the forest of the volcano chain. On the way down, you'll enjoy a spectacular panorama of the crater's interior. From the heights, you can already spot the dark patches of the first large herds. There are some 20,000 head here, including almost 55 species of mammal: ostriches, Kori bustards, lesser flamingos, crowned cranes, zebras, gazelles, warthogs, hartebeests... they're all here.
