From September 26 to October 4, 2025, the Grande Semaine Végétale takes place. 7 days to "make plant-based eating an informed and accessible choice". The event is organized by the Make.org foundation in partnership with the Interveg association. The initiative aims to raise awareness of the benefits of a less meat-based diet, and to encourage changes in our eating habits.
In France, 1/4 of our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions are due to food, according to the French Agency for Ecological Transition (ADEME). Indeed, producing 100g of beef generates 3.5kg of CO2, compared with 120g of CO2 for 100g of legumes(source: INRAE).
According to BPI France, 40% of French people would like to increase their consumption of plant-based products. However, 70% of them don't know how to go about changing their eating habits.
To this end, the Grande Semaine Végétale is mobilizing restaurateurs, schools and other committed players through round tables, conferences and cooking workshops. The idea is to invite us to explore a more vegan diet, to arouse our curiosity while raising awareness of its benefits. Find out about partner establishments near you directly on the event website.
