If the sea attracts many vacationers during the summer season, it is not without its dangers. The survey on drownings published in 2018 by Santé Publique France had caused concern, with a clear increase in accidents. In order to make swimming safer this summer, signage is changing in France, with shapes and colors that largely take up international standards. Red flag: swimming prohibited; stake with red flame: swimming temporarily prohibited outside a supervised area; yellow flag: dangerous swimming: green flag: safe swimming; flag with red and yellow stripes: supervised swimming area during the opening hours of the first aid station; purple flag: pollution or presence of dangerous aquatic species; checkered flag: water sports area such as surfing, windsurfing, etc.; wind sock: wind unfavorable to certain activities. In addition, there are additional signs concerning obligations, authorizations, prohibitions and warnings. More information on the website of the Ministry of Sports, Olympic and Paralympic Games
