Halloween is full of traditions with decorations, costumes and the candy bucket to ring the doorbell on October 31st. The picture wouldn't be complete without taking the time to concoct a few recipes to make the whole family shiver. Halloween is a time to get together with loved ones and have a great time. Whether we sit down to eat before or after the Trick or Treat session, here are some recipe ideas for a special menu that will delight young and old alike!
Let's start with a terrifying appetizer!
Before sitting down to eat the special Halloween menu, the party starts with a terrifying appetizer! To please the children, you can prepare a delicious smoothie made with red fruits. The recipe is simple, you need frozen red fruits: raspberries, blueberries, cherries, black currants. We also add orange juice and a banana. Once blended, the whole thing will look like blood, but it is a delicious drink that you enjoy. To reinforce the Halloween spirit, don't hesitate to buy black sugar. It is easily found on the Internet. You then place egg white on one plate, sugar on another, and dip the rim of the glass in each of the two ingredients so that the glass has a pretty border.
Many children are Harry Potter fans. So why not make them the famous Beerberry for Halloween? This drink, which originated in the 19th century in Great Britain, is very simple to prepare. You need: 60 g of butter, 60 g of caster sugar, 50 cl of cream soda (you can find it on the Internet and in stores specialized in world products), 1 tablespoon of molasses and whipped cream. To prepare, first melt the butter in a saucepan over low heat, then add the sugar while mixing gently. Beware of the sugar that could stick to the sides, a brush can be used to loosen it as you go. It's time to add the molasses and let it boil for 5 minutes, not one more! We let cool the mixture, we add 2 spoons of syrup in every mug and finally the cream soda. For the effect foam of the beer, one surmounts of whipped cream and it is ready, there is not more than to savor.
Needless to say, you can't have an aperitif without a snack. Here's a recipe that will make you want to hide under the bed. With the good old knack sausages that kids love and that you cut in half, you can easily carve fingers. Cut a small square at the end to give the appearance of a fingernail and use a knife to make lines on the top to create the joints. Place the works in hot dog buns and cover with a little ketchup. We put the whole in the oven during 15 minutes and it is ready!
Next up with a tasty Hallowe'en appetizer
Fall marks the return of good cheese recipes to the table. For the evening of October 31, here is an appetizer that should delight your guests. It's a cheese, pumpkin and champagne fondue. We run to the store to get the food and we follow the following quantities for 4 persons: 1 small pumpkin of 1 kg, 250 g of cheese for fondue (we can choose Gruyere or Beaufort), 10 cl of champagne, salt and pepper.
First, cut off the cap of the pumpkin, hollow out the flesh as you would for a decorative pumpkin, and cut it into pieces. We plunge the pieces in 75 cl of salted water which we carry to boiling. We let cook 30 minutes. The cheese is to be cut in fine slice. Once finished, we mix the soup and we pour it again in the pan with the cheese and the champagne. Let it cook on low heat until the cheese melts. Once the mixture is ready, pour it into the hollowed out pumpkin. A bit of salt and pepper, small pieces of bread to dip and we enjoy!
A monstrously good dish idea
We continue this festival of flavors for Halloween with a dish based on meat, pumpkin and cranberries. We will need for 4 persons: small casseroles, 500 g of minced meat, 500 g of pumpkin, 60 g of dried cranberries, 2 onions, 1 clove of garlic, 4 sprigs of thyme, 1 teaspoon of tomato puree, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, 1 pinch of cinnamon, 30 cl of water, 2,5 tablespoons of melted butter, salt and pepper.
First of all, we preheat the oven to 200 °C. The onions and garlic are diced and the thyme is thinned out. Fry 500 g of minced meat in olive oil until the desired doneness is reached. Add the onions, garlic and thyme and fry for 2 minutes. Add a teaspoon of tomato purée, sauté and add the 30 cl of water. Bring to the boil and add 30 g of dried cranberries and a pinch of cinnamon. Salt and pepper. Cut the pumpkin in two, remove the seeds and grate the flesh. We add the melted butter and the 30 g of cranberries remaining. Once again, we salt and pepper. It is time to butter the 4 casseroles and fill them with the minced meat mixture and cover with the grated pumpkin. After 45 minutes in the oven, it's time to eat!
Halloween cookies for dessert of course!
We finish the meal by a small sweet note, because yes, the children are in a hurry to pass to the Trick or Treat. We will still take the time to enjoy some Halloween cookies. Here are the ingredients and quantities needed for 8 people this time: 330 g of flour, 2 eggs and 2 others for the whites, 150 g of soft butter, 135 g of brown sugar, 340 g of powdered sugar, 3 tablespoons of milk, orange, black, red and green coloring, food pens and pumpkin, witch and ghost shaped cookie cutters that can easily be found in the shops
In a preparation bowl, mix the soft butter that you have previously cut into pieces with the flour, sugar and salt. Mix in the eggs and milk, then form a ball and put it in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. The dough is then rolled out with a rolling pin on a baking sheet. A thickness of 5 mm is perfect. We then grab the cookie cutters to cut out the cookies, the children love to participate! We then let the cookies golden in the oven at 160 ° C for 12 minutes. Once they have cooled, it's time to create and imagine. The egg whites are divided into as many bowls as there are dyes. The dyes are then added and mixed. After covering the cookies with icing and letting them dry, the crayons will be used to polish the pumpkins and other spooky characters.
Enjoy and have a great Halloween!
