ECOCERT
Created in 1991, the French independent label Ecocert certifies products from organic farming. It has also developed a specific charter for ecological or organic cosmetics. Two Ecocert labels can be awarded to cosmetic products, the first "Ecocert Organic Cosmetics" when they contain at least 95% of vegetable ingredients from organic farming and at least 10% of the total ingredients from organic farming. The second, "Ecocert Ecological Cosmetics" when they contain at least 50% of vegetable ingredients from organic farming and at least 5% of the total ingredients from organic farming. Certain ingredients are totally prohibited such as GMOs, parabens, silicone, phenoxyethanol, synthetic perfumes and dyes, glycols or materials from animals (with the exception of products from beekeeping and milk). Currently 967 cosmetic products are certified.
