The Feast of Gastronomy, which takes place every year, in the image of the Festival of Music in many cities in France, includes a competition of amateur cuisine. It is taking place in several stages:
Registration: candidates must register on the above-mentioned Gastronomy Festival website and complete a registration file with a complete and detailed recipe accompanied by a photo and where they will have to indicate in which 10 geographic regions determined by the organizers they wish to participate.
Regional selections: 30 candidates spread in 10 regions are selected on file to take part in a cooking event. These 10 regions are defined by the partners and correspond to 10 sites that will host these tests. The 10 regional selections will take place in a selection of venues illustrating the world of catering professionals, either in cooking schools, place of learning, or in Relais and Châteaux, which represent French excellence.
The cooking tests: 3 candidates per region will participate in a cooking test according to a specification that will be defined and approved by each of the 10 sites.
The final phases: the winners in each region, 10 candidates, participate in the semi-finals and the final in one of the cities participating in the Gastronomy festival, different each year. During the final, candidates discover a surprise basket of provisions and have a time to make a dish and lay plates. Their achievements are evaluated by a jury of 5 personalities (in 2012, the jury was composed of prestigious leaders such as Michel Guérard, Alain Dutournier, Jean Coussau, Yves Camdeborde, local producers and gastronomic critics).
Prices: 3 prizes are awarded, consisting in the handing over of various food and quality wines, while staying in establishments of partner networks, the first price corresponding to the most expensive stay.
