Notaries from a department, sometimes from two or even three departments, are grouped into companies. Each company is represented by a chamber, composed of members elected from notaries in the departments or departments concerned. The latter is consulted by the public authorities in the appointment of new notaries; it shall, at least once a year, be required by sworn specialists to inspect the accounts and management of each office of the departments or departments concerned. Finally, under the law of disciplinary power, it punishes breaches of professional rules or ethics. It is the body to be seized in the event of a dispute between a client and his notary.
