CICAT (CENTRES D'INFORMATION ET DE CONSEIL SUR LES AIDES TECHNIQUES)
CICATs offer a wide variety of services for individuals and professionals. These associations under the 1901 law are intended to provide all the necessary information and advice on the technical means of preventing and compensating for situations of disability, whether motor, sensory or psychological. For individuals, this can be personalized advice based on an analysis of the situation, needs and expectations of the disabled person. Technical and technological aids, as well as equipment, are often placed in a control room or dwelling. The demonstration and organization of equipment tests at the centre or at home encourages an informed and relevant choice between several solutions. In some cases, a trial may be extended by a short-term loan. Other missions of the association: assistance in learning how to use the materials as well as information and awareness raising for family members and occasional or regular home workers. CICATs exist in almost all regions of France.
