RESTOS DU CŒUR
One immediately thinks of Coluche, because it was he who, in 1985, launched this association under the law of 1901 in metropolitan France, which is recognised as being of public utility. Its aim was to help and provide voluntary assistance to the destitute, particularly in the area of food, through access to free meals and participation in their social and economic integration, as well as in all forms of action against poverty. Today, 133.5 million meals are distributed, 900,000 people are cared for, and 30,000 babies under 12 months of age are helped. The Restos du cœur have broadened their scope of action to include personal assistance and integration. Donations and legacies make up the majority of the association's resources, to which are added the proceeds of the Enfoirés operations and finally subsidies from public authorities. In France, 72,000 volunteers are committed to providing a disinterested service to people in difficulty and sharing the association's ethics, objectives and social purpose. To become a volunteer, you can fill in the form on the website. The association's volunteer needs are numerous and varied. All the good will and know-how are useful to develop the various actions of the association: food distribution but also street activities, hot meals, marauding, cooking workshops, school support, help to mothers with the "restos bébé", cultural and leisure activities, help to return to work, micro-credit, housing, access to law.
