Since the th century, the monks have developed the French vineyard contributing greatly to its reputation. What is left today? What has become of these lands and monastic tradition? The association des Vins d'Abbeys invites you to an exceptional journey. Its objective, by the way, will delight many of you, is to promote the wines of abbeys through the development of their historical, cultural and oenological heritage and invite the visitor to discover wine sites within unique landscapes in Europe. The association brings together private owners who operate vineyards mainly of Cistercian origin. According to the Cistercian rule of hospitality, there is also a place for the chartreux, which is also the origin of many prestigious vineyards. Some abbeys are in perfect conservation condition, and their current owners continue to exploit the vineyards built by the Cistercian or replanted on those same soils. Other abbeys or barns are no longer ruins or have disappeared, but their vineyards have survived and always produce high quality wines on beautiful plots.
