HOSPICE DE SALERS
Hospice of Salers with chapel, monument having known various functions, being used as social housing and stores of craftsmen.
Founded in the 18th century by Pierre Lizet, the monument was intended to house the priests in charge of preaching in the mountainous region of Auvergne. The place was used as a small hospital after the Revolution, as a school for the Brothers of Christian Education, as a gendarmerie, before being devoted today to social housing and arts and crafts shops. Only the chapel dating from 1767 can be visited. It consists of a superimposition of pilasters located at each end of the facade and whose capitals are similar to the Corinthian style.
