France is a relatively rich European country. The average budget for your stay will be at least a hundred euros per day for accommodation, food, transportation and museum visits. There is no haggling in France, except at flea markets.
Passport and visas France
Foreign nationals must present at the French border the regulatory documents relating to the purpose of their stay, their means of subsistence and their accommodation conditions, except if they are residents of the Schengen area. Similarly, except for residents of the Schengen area, a visa is required to enter French territory. You must apply for it before your departure at the French embassy or consulate in your country of residence. The type of visa required to enter France depends on both the length of your stay and the reasons for it
Driver's license France
You can rent a car by presenting your ID and driver's license. Driving is on the right, the speed limit is 130 km/h on the highway, 80 km/h on the road, unless there are posted restrictions.
Health France
No particular health risks in France, nor specific diseases. The water is drinkable in all regions.

Security France
There are no particularly dangerous areas in France, except for a few suburban neighborhoods known for their insecurity. As elsewhere, pickpockets are rife in the most touristy areas.
Time difference France
France has adopted a one hour difference between summer and winter time. With daylight saving time, France is at +02h00 on the Greenwich meridian (GMT). Winter time is one hour earlier.

The official language in France is French. English is generally spoken by tourism professionals.
Communication France
The Internet network and the telephone coverage of mobile operators are good throughout France, except in a few remote places, especially in mountain areas. Free Wifi points are numerous in the big cities.
Electricity and measurements France
In France, electricity is 220 Volts, 50 Hertz in alternating current. The plugs are type E (round pin and male grounding pin receptacle). If you have electrical appliances brought from abroad, you may need an adapter for the outlets and a transformer (110V-220V). The metric system is used throughout the country
Luggage France
Make sure you have clothes adapted to the season and the region where you will be staying in France. You may need to bring evening clothes. Bring your medication and your usual prescriptions.
