BINTER CV / TICV

Due to its chronic deficits and a certain lack of flexibility in fulfilling its air carrier commitments, TACV has lost its monopoly on inter-island air routes to Binter CV, a subsidiary of the Spanish airline Binter (formerly Iberia's low-cost airline), which has been operating inter-island flights in the Canary Islands for over 15 years and has resumed all inter-island air traffic since August 2017. It changed its name in August 2019 to Transport Interilhas de Cabo Verde (TICV).

The TICV fleet, which includes 3 ATR-72s (twin-engine propeller engines), operates 120 weekly flights between islands with airports. From and to Praia (Santiago), the company operates about 100 weekly flights with Fogo, Maio, São Nicolau, Sal, São Vicente and Boavista. There are six daily flights to and from Sal, seven to and from São Vicente, one daily rotation to Fogo and Boa Vista, one every other day to São Nicolau and one every three days to Maio.

There are no inter-island passes, but the relatively modest fares for a Westerner make flights all the more affordable as they are short and avoid long hours at sea on boats, which are certainly cheaper, but also obsolete and uncertain.

Check-in online possible. You will need to go to the counter if your bag/suitcase is too large and over 6 kg, knowing that the storage space in the cabin is very small. However, your bag/suitcase must not weigh more than 20 kg or you will have to pay extra.

Attention, although these are domestic flights, security controls are extremely strict on inter-island flights, as well as on transatlantic flights: lighters and no liquids - even water - over 150 ml are allowed in hand luggage (everything is systematically confiscated). It is advisable to arrive at the airport at least 1 hour before takeoff
