Listed as an intangible heritage by UNESCO since 2008, these Yoruba ceremonies take place at night in a public square. Singers, drummers and masked dancers ensure the transmission of this oral heritage. The purpose of these ceremonies is to pay tribute to the primordial mother Iyà Nlà and, more generally, to the role of women in the social organization and development of Yoruba society. These ceremonies take place every year, after the harvest or during significant events, such as a drought or an epidemic.
