Budget & Tips
If you want to discover the flora and fauna of Togo, or get up close and personal with the country's culture, it's best to use an incoming agency that can put together a tailor-made program and accompany you during your stay. Prices will be higher than if you were to travel alone, but you'll be sure to make the most of your stay.
Main events
In Togo, the calendar is punctuated by numerous traditional festivals, such as initiation ceremonies and celebrations at the end of the monsoon season. The dates are not fixed, but vary according to the lunar or customary calendar. A number of festivals also mark the festive calendar. From August to November, you can watch humpback whales off the Togolese coast. The 1001 Pistes agency offers sea trips to meet these imposing cetaceans.
Smokers
Smoking is obviously forbidden in the forest, as it can cause a fire. In the street, avoid throwing cigarette butts on the ground.
Tourist traps
Some locals may improvise themselves as guides to make a bit of money. Make sure the person you hire is trustworthy.
