Practical information : Going out Chad
Timetable
Bars and nightclubs close fairly early in the country. Legal closing times vary from city to city, and are sometimes temporarily restricted by the mayor's decision. In the capital, however, there's always a lively place to go until late at night.
Budget & Tips
Most nightclubs are free and accept credit cards. However, you should expect to pay an entrance fee of around 5 to 10,000 CFA when there is a special event.
To be booked
On feast days and the eve of public holidays, it can be useful to make reservations at the clubs, especially if you'd like to have a table all to yourself. Call the establishment to make sure.
Night transport
In the evening, we recommend taking a cab or chauffeur-driven car. In the capital, Hermocab has a very modern fleet.
Age restrictions
The legal drinking age in Chad is only 16, and this law is unfortunately not widely respected. Access to nightclubs, however, is sometimes restricted to 18-year-olds.
What's very local
Chad is a beer producer, so don't hesitate to try the famous Gala, the national beer. Beware of adulterated spirits, which can be sold in some small establishments and are dangerous.
Smokers
Cigarettes are banned in public places, but hardly anyone respects this rule. Nightclubs always have a smoking area.
