When to go Chad ?

The best months to visit Chad are November, December and January, when the weather is cooler and the rainy season is behind us. Depending on your destination in the country, this ideal period can extend into March, before the very hot season. For the rest of the year, you'll need to prepare your program carefully to avoid the floods that are common in summer, when it's difficult to get around.

Chad has a diverse climate, with three main zones.

In the north, the climate is desert-like, with very high temperatures, particularly between June and August. The Tibesti region, for example, experiences temperatures in excess of 40°C during the high season.

Central Chad, especially around N'Djamena, has a tropical savannah climate. Temperatures are moderate, but variations between the high and low seasons are notable, with a rainy season from June to September.

The south of the country enjoys an equatorial climate, characterized by high humidity and regular rainfall. Moundou and the surrounding area are particularly wet during the low season, which generally extends from May to October.

Things to note

Temperatures in Chad vary enormously according to zone and season, making each trip unique depending on the month and location chosen.
