Practical information : Going out Gabon
Timetable
Since the coup d'état in Gabon at the end of August 2023, a curfew has been in place from midnight to 5am. At the time of our report, discotheques were opening earlier, around 7-8pm, and closing their doors around midnight. Some unofficially remain open, but the atmosphere is very quiet. Some customers are even falling asleep on the benches, waiting for the curfew to end so they can go home. This situation is set to continue until the next elections, scheduled for 2025.
Budget & Tips
Some discotheques are open to the public, but you'll have to drink on the premises. Prices start at 5,000 FCFA. The Institut Français regularly organizes shows, conferences and concerts. Find out more about the program!
Night transport
After curfew, you'll find cabs at nightclub exits. Fares are double those charged during the day.
Age restrictions
In Gabon and São Tomé and Príncipe, discotheques are open to people aged 18 and over.
Smokers
Since 2016, smoking has been banned in nightclubs. However, some clubs have set up smoking areas.
