What budget for activities and outings Congo Brazzaville?
In Brazzaville, the corniche is closed to vehicles every Sunday, allowing the Congolese to make the new road along the river, with its elegant cable-stayed bridge, their own by strolling, running, skateboarding and even riding!
What budget to eat Congo Brazzaville?
From street stalls to ngandas and gourmet restaurants, you can eat on any budget in the Congo. Street stalls offer grilled meats, delicious mabokés and, of course, the indispensable manioc. Expect to pay between 500 and 1,500 FCFA per dish. However, be careful if you have a weak stomach. In the ngandas, you'll find the great classics of Congolese cuisine: broths, saka-saka, braised meat or fish. Expect to pay between 1,000 and 4,000 FCFA per dish. Chic restaurants, or those of international hotels frequented by the Congolese elite and expatriates, offer Congolese, international and French cuisine, sometimes with original specialties. Expect to pay between 7,000 and 15,000 FCFA per dish.
Expect to pay around 500 FCFA for a local beer in the ngandas, and double in the fancier establishments.
What is the budget for accommodation Congo Brazzaville?
When it comes to accommodation, there's Brazzaville and Pointe-Noire on the one hand, and the rest of the country (with the exception of Oyo, which is also developing) on the other. Finding a room for less than 20,000 FCFA is a difficult challenge, but not impossible if you start early enough. Entry-level accommodation is around 15,000 FCFA, with no running water, buckets in the showers and variable electricity. However, maintenance and cleanliness are generally good. For 30,000 FCFA, you can access the middle of the range, comfortable, often ventilated, sometimes air-conditioned, with television and a mini-bar. At this price, the difference lies in the presence or absence of a water heater and location. From 85,000 FCFA upwards, you enter the superior category of comfortable establishments with hot water, satellite TV, bathtub... but the quality of services varies from one establishment to another. Outside the two major cities, for the same services, you can reduce the above prices by around 30-50%.
Travel budget Congo Brazzaville and cost of living
A basic fact: the Congo is not a cheap destination. As in most sub-Saharan African countries, air travel is expensive, and there are substantial visa fees for long-term stays. Car rental is much more expensive than in France, especially as the use of a driver is often essential, which adds to the cost. Catering offers something for every budget, from grilled meats with manioc at 1,000 FCFA to a 10,000 FCFA dish in a traditional restaurant. In Brazzaville and Pointe-Noire, finding a room for less than 10,000 FCFA is quite a feat; at the other end of the spectrum, comfortable or international hotels offer rooms for 100,000 FCFA and often more. On the other hand, public transport such as minibuses or collective cabs, the "cent-cent", are very inexpensive; cabs, which can be found everywhere, are also fairly affordable, except for long journeys, where you'll have to negotiate hard.
