This festival commemorates the day the Batangas returned to Kribi from forced exile, in May 1916. During the First World War, this people from Central Africa (present in Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea) took refuge on the slopes of Mount Cameroon, in the south-west of the country. Kribi was the epicenter of the fighting. Every year, the Batangas commemorate this return. For the occasion, commemorative scenes are performed by dancers and actors, to the rhythm of the Batanga moma, the rallying song of the Batanga people, taken up in chorus by the festive audience.
