The event starts and ends in Kigali. The course consists of eight stages (913.3 km) and positive elevation changes of up to 4,157 m.
Rwanda is positioned in the top 3 of racing cycling on the African continent. Every year, riders from far away (United States, Belgium, Canada, France...) or from neighboring countries (Kenya, South Africa, Eritrea, Algeria, Gabon...) challenge Rwandan riders on their own land. The 15th edition of the Tour of Rwanda (February 19-26, 2023) included eight stages. For this tour, twenty teams were selected, eight of them were competing in the event for the first time.
