When to go Ghana ?
Ghana and the Gulf of Guinea in general have a tropical climate. While the coast is hot and rather dry, the south-west of the country is hot and humid, while the north - the gateway to the Sahel - is hot and particularly dry. To avoid too much heat and rain, the best time to visit Ghana is between September and November, and between March and June.
The weather in Ghana varies according to region and season, making it an attractive destination all year round! The country enjoys an equatorial climate in the south and a tropical climate in the north.
During the peak tourist season, from November to April, conditions are generally dry and sunny, especially in coastal cities like Accra and Cape Coast. Temperatures in Ghana can rise to 30-35°C during these months. This is the ideal time to enjoy the beaches and tourist sites without being bothered by rain.
The low season, which runs from May to October, corresponds to the rainy season, especially in the southern regions. However, even during this period, showers are often nocturnal or late in the day, leaving plenty of time to explore. Hotels and flights are also more affordable.
In northern Ghana, particularly Tamale, the dry season is longer ( November to June). This is the ideal time to visit the national parks and observe the wildlife.
