Heroes' Day is celebrated throughout the country, especially in Cerro Corá, where Francisco Solano López fell on March 1, 1870. The death of the Commander-in-Chief and President of Paraguay marked the end of the military actions of the Triple Alliance War. This symbolic date represents the emblem of the Republic of Paraguay, which had only two options, "win or die". The date has given rise to military parades and political speeches, but also to much debate, since López is not seen by everyone as a hero .
