For 6 days now, the war has returned to the borders of Europe, as Russia decided on February 24 to invade Ukraine. Several cities are being bombed and fighting is taking place in the streets. The Ukrainian army and a large number of civilians are trying to resist the onslaught of the Russian army, but as everyone fears, there are already several casualties. Some 500,000 people have also left the country and more are expected to come.
Currently, many countries, especially the Western ones, have put in place a number of sanctions to weaken and deter Vladimir Putin's regime. NATO countries have also announced that they will increase their financial and military support (by sending arms) to Ukraine.
As always, the civilian population is among the first victims of this war which is growing stronger day by day. Without waiting, the countries of the European Union launched an emergency plan to receive refugees. At the same time, NGOs have launched fundraising campaigns to help Ukrainians who have been forced to flee their country, as well as those who have stayed behind to defend their territory. The funds are aimed at providing medical assistance, shelter and food. With the bombing of homes and the destruction of many facilities in the cities ofUkraine, the country is facing, and will inevitably continue to face for a long time, a humanitarian crisis of great magnitude.
A wave of indignation is taking place all over the world, and demonstrations are being held every day in support of the Ukrainian people, such as the demonstration on Sunday, February 27, which brought together more than 100,000 people in Berlin. There are also other ways to help the Ukrainian people.
How can we help Ukraine in these times of war?
On the sixth day of the conflict, there are many needs to help the Ukrainian people. As the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin announced on France 2 on February 28, France has already sent 33 tons of food and medicine to Poland to support Ukrainian civilians. More than 30 tons of humanitarian aid will go to Moldova this week.
