This festival, also called Magha Puja, is one of the most important of the year. It commemorates Buddha's sermon of the same name before 1,250 disciples, as well as the enunciation of the foundations of monastic life. Monks and devotees parade with a candle in their hands and go to the pagodas to make offerings (rice, flowers, incense), and thus earn merits. The monks give sermons in front of an attentive audience. Holiday in the whole country.
