With its many religious rites and folk traditions, Easter in Croatia is almost as important as Advent.

In this country of fervent Catholics, the Easter celebrations are accompanied by popular traditions that continue, especially in the countryside. After Palm Sunday, the Holy Week is observed until the Easter bonfire (Vuzmenka), the nightly bonfire on Holy Saturday and the candlelight procession. On Holy Sunday and Monday, the Resurrection is celebrated with songs, rattles and clappers, coloured eggs, brioche(uskrsna pogača) and a festive meal with Easter lamb
