A ceremony that usually celebrates the first harvest in early July and honors the ancestors for this abundance.
The Kaonde people of Kasempa celebrate Juba Ja Nsomo every year, usually on July 6. A traditional ceremony that celebrates the first harvest and honors the ancestors for this abundance. The name of this ceremony means "taste". Chief Kasempa tastes munkhoyo, a freshly brewed sorghum beer, and prays to the ancestors to continue protecting his people. During this festival, the Kaondes display their culture and wealth, including music.
