This ceremony celebrates the 1854 meeting of the Lunda chief of the Zambezi district with Dr. David Livingstone. Chief Ishindi Kawumbu, astonished to meet a white man for the first time, offered him hospitality and some goods, including swords, which can be seen in the Livingstone Museum. The ceremony takes place in August over several days with traditional dances. The occasion for the Lunda people to put their culture and their chief Ishindi in the spotlight.
