Celebrates the migration of the Lunda from the present-day DRC to Luampula in Zambia in the century and the victories of their leader, Mwata Kazembe.
For two days, the migration of the Lunda people who fled the present-day DRC to Luampula in the 20th century and the military victories of their leader, Mwata Kazembe, are celebrated. Rituals, drums, dances and speeches punctuate the ceremony. On the first day, the chief, whose face is coated with kaolin, receives offerings before paying homage to the ancestors. On the second day, a goat is sacrificed and the chief, dressed in a zebra skin and armed with a sword, begins the Mutomboko (victory dance).
