FÊTE DES NATS

The spirits are back for five days in a row, during the feast of the Nats de. The two nats brothers celebrated during this festival lost their father, executed by King Anawratha (th century) for a failure to fulfil his obligations. They were successively punished when Anawratha learned that the two brothers had not lifted the finger for the construction of a pagoda that he had ordered. But once put to death, they became such powerful nats that the king, in order to appease them, had to have them build a sanctuary and decide that a festival would honor them every year. This festival gives rise to numerous shows and a huge fair of the Burmese people. Assisted by an interpreter, you may learn from the Burmese wizards, who are present throughout the festivities, what the future gives you. If the fortune does not smile you, they will be kind enough to tell you how to get out of it anyway!
