Orthodox religious celebration celebrated fervently throughout the country, lasting several days, in the very pious Georgia.
On Holy Thursday, the Patriarch, according to the ritual of the Last Supper, washes the feet of twelve priests in commemoration of the event. The Svetitskhoveli Cathedral in Mtskheta, one of the holiest places in Georgia, is said to preserve the shroud of Jesus. The egg, the symbol of Easter, is coloured on the Thursday after the liturgy. The faithful enter the exact replica of the cathedral of the Holy Sepulchre to honour Christ's tomb. On Saturday evening, an egg is broken after midnight mass for good luck.
