If "Catholic Easter" is followed by Catholics, Albanians of all denominations hide chocolate eggs!
This festival, known in Albania as "Catholic Easter" (Pashket katolike), is followed by Roman Catholics and members of the various Protestant churches. The Western influence is felt in the chocolate eggs that Albanians hide in the garden on this day, much to the delight of children. And while people sit down to a lamb-based feast, the tradition of preparing perpec and fogaca, typical breads of Shkodra's Catholic community, almost disappeared after the 1967 ban on religion.
