Christian religious festival followed by the Orthodox, mostly Greeks and Aromanians from the southern part.
In Albania, it is called "Orthodox Passover" (Pashkët ortodokse), since it is followed almost exclusively by Orthodox people. The majority of these are Greeks and Aromanians from the southern part of the country. The main liturgy (Mass) is said in Greek in the Orthodox Cathedral of Tirana on that day, which provokes strong criticism. Other important ceremonies take place, in Albanian, in the cathedrals of Korça, Berat and Gjirokastra, as well as in the churches of Fier, Vlora, Saranda and Elbasan.
