The Eid al-adha ("feast of sacrifice") or Eid el-kebir ("great feast") is here called Kurban Bajrami. It's the most important Muslim holiday. As everywhere else in the world, the day begins very early with a collective prayer, including a huge gathering in Skanderbeg Square in Tirana. It continues with families sacrificing an animal, usually a sheep or a chicken, a third of which will be offered to the poorest. For many Albanian families, this is one of the few opportunities to eat meat
