A few days after Independence Day, the festivities continue with this very important celebration for Moldovans, Limba Noastră (Our Language). This is the name of the national anthem with lyrics written by poet Alexei Mateevici in 1917. On 31 August 1989, the Supreme Soviet abolished the use of the Cyrillic alphabet for the Moldovan language and allowed the return of the Latin alphabet. The Moldavian language was recognized and a cultural renaissance began. It was a day of concerts and jubilation throughout the city and the rest of the country
