Practical information : Take a break Bulgaria
Timetable
Bars stay open until late at night. You will always find a bar open in the big cities, whether it is during the week or at the weekend, especially in high season. Happy hour hours vary greatly. For some bars it can be in the middle of the afternoon, while for others it starts at the end of the day from 6pm to 8pm, for example.
Budget & Tips
Prices in bars are much cheaper than in France. For example, a pint of beer (50 ml) costs around 2 €.
Age restrictions
Consumption of alcohol is allowed from the age of 18. Minors are allowed in restaurants serving alcohol, but not in bars, where the main consumption is alcohol. The establishment may ask for an ID card to verify age.
What's very local
For alcohol lovers, you will probably taste rakia, a brandy made from grapes, apples or plums, which is highly appreciated by Bulgarians. Without forgetting vodka, Russian influences oblige, or some local beers.
Smokers
Smoking has been banned in enclosed public places since 2012, so this includes bars, cafes, clubs, theaters, auditoriums..
