One week before Easter, Saint Lazarus Day, symbol of fertility, love and marriage, celebrates the awakening of nature.
It is the feast of Saint Lazarus. It takes place eight days before the Orthodox Easter. In Slavic symbolism, it is to celebrate the arrival of spring, the awakening of nature to life. It honors fertility, love and marriage. The girls wear a crown of flowers, swing on swings, sing and attach vows to their bouquets of flowers. Special attention is paid to their attire. For the occasion, the girls to be married are dressed in richly decorated traditional dresses. A costume party and an invitation to dance.
