A national holiday celebrated by all Egyptians, regardless of religion, which heralds the beginning of spring. Jovial atmosphere.
A festival that dates back to Pharaonic times, to announce the beginning of spring. The people of the time went to the banks of the Nile and to places where there was greenery. They offered colourful eggs, salted fish, lettuce and onion as a dish of honour. Today the same foods are eaten in the homes, but the inhabitants no longer systematically go to the banks of the Nile to offer them. It is a national holiday celebrated by all Egyptians, all religions combined, in a very jovial atmosphere.
