THERMIQUE ESPRIT D’AVENTURE
Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, offers paragliding enthusiasts one of the country's most beautiful sites. Located on the seafront, the town of Jounieh, part of Greater Beirut, offers a take-off at 703 meters above sea level. Landing is on the seafront, in front of the Porta da Luna hotel. To reach the launch site, take the cable car and then the funicular to Harissa Cathedral, from where shuttle buses take you to the Ghosta launch site. Flying conditions are generally good, with thermodynamic breezes in a south-westerly wind. In the morning, mist may be present, but quickly dissipates with the sun's rays. Flying at paragliding sites in Lebanon is highly controlled, but thanks to the persuasion of Raja Saade of the Esprit d'aventure-Liban thermal school, paramotors were allowed at the 1st Jounieh International Festival. The festival also features concerts, street shows, stock car races and outboard boat demonstrations. Lebanon, with its mountainous landscapes and relatively small surface area, offers many flying opportunities for adventure enthusiasts.
