GURARA CASCADES
Very beautiful and exotic outing a few hours from Abuja. The Gurara Falls form a wide curtain of tumultuous waters escaping from a green plateau in the rocky slope of the plain, a few dozen metres below. The falls are very impressive at the end of the wet season, with a very powerful flow and the river at its highest point in the valley. But coming in the dry season allows you to see a completely different landscape, and above all to swim in the basin at the foot of the waterfall, to climb its walls to go around it from the sides, and to have a superb view of the surrounding valley. The place is popular with Nigerians who sometimes come in large numbers for picnics or festive events, but you will generally be comfortable along the stone benches of the river or under the trees.
