USMAN DAM LAKE AND DAM

With Gurara Falls it is one of the most beautiful outings outside Abuja. Also one of the only ones. This large artificial dam has formed a large reservoir that supplies the entire city of Abuja with water. Depending on the season and the light, the lake takes on bluish, black or indigo shades and sometimes turquoise. Many paths start from the dam, for a wide variety of pleasant walks, but be careful not to get lost! Very nice view from the mountain at the end of the dam: simple ascent and exotic panorama on the immense expanse of water and the bald top of the monolith. Another pleasant stroll is to park in the external car park of the Julius Berger dealership, extending your route after the dam (ask permission!). From there, we go back up the track and turn left as soon as possible towards the lake: some "beaches" and plains frequented by zebus and sheep will offer you pretty picnic spots.
