Born in Bucharest in 1958, in a Jewish family. His father, Mordechai Buchman, who had known the Nazi concentration camps, decided to adopt a Romanian sound name and became Ion Mihaileanu. Radu fled the dictatorship of Ceausescu in 1980 and arrived in France where he integrated IDHEC (Institute of Higher Cinematographic Studies). His first feature feature is Trahir (1993), followed by a Life of Life (1998) which ensures international recognition. His flagship work, Go, screw and become a winner in 2005 the best scenario and several awards at the Berlin Festival. In 2009 he came out of the Concert, tasty comedy, where he mixes Slavonic humor and humanity in a series of improbable adventures.
