It is the main religious festival, full of traditions, such as that of painted eggs. A period full of fervour.
It is the most important holiday in the Romanian religious calendar, along with Christmas. Paște usually takes place in April, sometimes in March or May, depending on the year. It is the occasion of a big cleaning in the houses and each family prepares for several days the agape on Easter Sunday: traditional dishes come to break a long fast. In some regions, folk costumes are brought out to go to the religious ceremony on Saturday evening, which lasts late into the night. Easter is also the delicate tradition of painted eggs.
