November 30 celebrates the country's patron saint: André, the first to preach Christianity in southern Romania.
November 30, Saint Andrew's Day(Sfântul Andrei), is a public holiday in Romania. And with good reason: the apostle, who was the first to preach Christianity in southern Romania, is considered the protector of the country. According to ancient beliefs, on the night of November 29 to 30, the spirits of the dead are allowed to enter the world of the living... Although the traditions of St. Andrew's Day have largely been lost, it is the day on which we celebrate the Andrei and Andreea families, who are among the most common first names in Romania.
